Tears streamed down my face shortly after I took this video. For the first time I am able to move my thumb volitionally, that is, with intent. The following day I could do nothing, but then the day after that I was able to move my thumb again couple of times .
Finger movement
18 OctFinally! Julie and I were able to achieve what professionals so far have not: getting my index finger to move using electrical stimulation. These are very small movements, but they are the first I have seen since my injury. If I continue to apply stimulation on a daily basis, the movements should get larger, and eventually I maybe able to use an electrical device to help me have a grasp.
Standing frame session
18 OctBest session ever on the standing frame: over 30 minutes of continuous bobbing and weaving, without any lightheadedness . Thanks to Andrew for the assist.
Trying to roll over
12 OctTrying to roll over. I am a long way from being able to do it by myself, but who knows? If I keep trying, maybe I will make some progress.
Bioness
7 OctTrying out the bioness h 200 device at in step physical therapy in Edmonton. By providing electrical stimulation to my arm muscles, this device may help me to develop a grasp. If it works, I’ll be a bionic man.
Sitting on the grass
7 OctSitting by myself on the grass, for the first time in a year! Thanks to the Phat Boyz biking club in Invermere for their help and assistance.
